Condor #311 "Loner"
Sex: Female Hatch Location & Date: San Diego Zoo, 5/12/2003 Release Date: 9/25/2004 Parents:  #7 and #31 Local Biological Siblings: #167 Breeding Status: Unpaired Offspring: None
Loner was raised using the condor head puppet technique. She has no problem being in the wild, although she seems rather shy and often sticks to the fringes of social gatherings.

Several other females her age are more assertive and have shown preferences for specific male condors. Loner has not yet selected a mate, despite reaching sexual maturity. She divides her time between the Big Sur coastline and Pinnacles National Park, so we are hoping that one of the males there will take a shine to this sweet condor. Pinnacles has excellent breeding habitat and Loner would be one of the older condors in that area if she chose to relocate. Her preference for a calm life might be easier to fulfill there, where she would be higher in the dominance hierarchy than in Big Sur.
